Actress Alicia Vikander says she was initially scared to audition for The Danish Girl, but actor Eddie Redmayne and director Tom Hooper made her 'feel safe' and comfortable.

The 27-year-old Swedish actress, who plays Gerda Wegener, wife of Lili Elbe, the first man to successfully undergo a sex-change operation, said the three just sat and talk during the audition, reported The Wrap. "I walked in and I was quite terrified. I don't think I've ever felt so safe as I felt in that room and in an audition before. Eddie and Tom were already there, and they just said, 'Lets just sit down and talk for half an hour.' So that's actually what we did," Vikander said.
