Varun Dhawan opted to play a quirky romantic hero in 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' because he is drawn to characters that are "goofy and crazy".

The two films old actor has already proved that he can do comedy in 'Main Tera Hero' and Varun now hopes that 'Humpty' will find similar love from the audience.

"I am always looking for characters that are crazy and different because they stand out. To be named Humpty is very interesting in a love story. People are bored of watching normal love stories. I hope 'Humpty' becomes the best love story of the year," Varun told PTI.

In the Shashank Khaitan-directed film, Varun reunites with his 'Student of the Year' co-star Alia Bhatt. The actor says he had more fun working with the actress this time.

"There is a marked difference in her. She has not changed as a person but she has improved as an actor. She is far better now and I really enjoyed working with her," says Varun.
The one actor that Varun is often pitted against is his 'Student of the year' co-star Sidharth Malhotra, who had a box office success in 'Ek Villain'.

Varun, however, says they share a bonding that is beyond competition

"Sidharth's film releasing is special for me and mine is special for him. He is always a brother. He always calls me be it 'Main Tera Hero' or 'Humpty'. Since he is from Delhi, he is looking forward to its release. I don't think there is any competition, especially with me and Sid," says Varun.

The 27-year-old actor is yet to show the film to his filmmaker father but is looking forward to his opinion.

"My dad is glad that the trailers and the songs have been liked well but I am yet to show him the film. I will come to know what he thinks.

When asked whether he gets an honest feedback from his father, Varun said, "Very honest. Sometimes I think it is too honest."
