It seems like promoting family and friends are passé. Recently, actor Akshay Kumar took it a step further when he launched the music of debutant actor Prateek Chakravorty’s film. The actor is busy shuttling between his shoots and hospital visits where his father-in-law and veteran actor Rajesh Khanna is recuperating. But still Akki was there to extend his support to the young actors and specially Prateek who is reviving his grandfather’s film banner and also starring in the film, From Sydney with Love since it was Prateek’s grandfather, who gave Akki his first break in Bollywood.

Getting nostalgic, Akki reminisced about how if it wasn’t for Prateek’s grandfather, who had given him a break, he wouldn’t have been where he is today. “I owe a lot to his grandfather, who trusted my talent and gave me a break, which in those days was a big thing as I did not really come from a film family. So I hardly knew how to go about things. But he played a significant role in my initial days and today when his grandson wants to revive the banner, it is but natural that I will be there for him all the way,” added Akki.

But it isn’t just Akshay, who is going all out to promote the films and actors of the banner that gave them their first break. A source adds, “Salman Khan has been close to filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, whose banner gave him Maine Pyar Kiya. He has been there for many events that Sooraj’s banner, especially when they launched debutants. Besides him actors like Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn have also been very supportive towards their filmmaker buddies with whom they got their first hit.”
