The trailer of the star’s upcoming film will be released in a single screen theatre.

Ajay Devgn’s films have always hit home with the masses. In fact, according to reports, Ajay and Salman Khan are among the top stars whose films have had a roaring business at the single screens. “Ajay has the lion share in single screens all over India with four films in the top that have contributed to the single screen collections. (Golmaal 38.5 percent, Singham 40.0 percent, Bol Bachchan 44.4 percent and Son of Sardaar 45.1 percent),” claim reports.

Now, it seems like, wanting to cash in on Ajay’s popularity with the masses, the makers of his upcoming film Himmatwala have planned to release the trailer of the film on a single screen. “What also works here is that Himmatwala has some highly stylised numbers which are reminiscent of the early eighties, which makes the single screen a fitting venue,” says an insider.

So, while in a first of sorts, the mahurat of the film went live on Youtube, the makers had also recorded one of the songs with a live orchestra. And now, they have planned to launch the trailer on January 24, Thursday at Bandra’s Gaeity-Galaxy in complete ’80s style. “Ajay, Tamannaah and Sajid along with producers Vashu Bhagnani, Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor will also be present at the event,” adds the insider. “The movie is set in the 1980s and when we were planning the trailer launch, we decided to launch it in a theatre that was popular then and is now reminiscent of the ’80s to give the event a complete retro feel. We are very excited about the trailer launch and people will relive the that decade with Sajid’s film,” confirms Shikha Kapur, Executive Director, Marketing, Studios, Disney UTV.
