Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, and producer/director Karan Johar are likely to be summoned by the Mumbai police in connection with the All India Bakchod's (AIB) controversial Roast. The Mumbai police are likely to send summons to the three to record their statements.

According to sources in Mumbai police, Section 295(A) (hurting religious sentiments) is applied in the case and hence the department will have to send the report to state Home department to get prosecution sanction. The statements of Karan, Ranveer and Arjun would be part of the final report that the department would be submitting to the Home department.

Tardeo police have already recorded statement of AIB members along with that of MTV Roadies fame Raghu Ram and film critic Rajeev Masand. “The court had directed to file an FIR and probe the case. We have already recorded the statement of other members of the group. Now there is a need to record statement of these three celebrities,” said a cop privy to the investigation.

“As trio was part of the show held at Worli, we need to question them too,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) S Jayakumar, adding due procedure will be followed in their summoning.

The 'Roast', performed at National Sports Club of India (NSCI) in Worli and later uploaded in Youtube, ran into controversy after objections were raised on its alleged obscene contents. A Girgaum court in February, following a complaint filed by social activist Santosh Daundkar, had ordered Tardeo police station to register a case against 14 people, including Bollywood personalities Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer, Arjun, Karan, members of AIB team and office-bearers of NSCI.

Tardeo police also found discrepancies in the script submitted to the Maharashtra Stage Performance Scrutiny Board (MSPSB) and what was actually enacted.
