Talking to DNA, Jahan said that she had to get back to modelling to sustain her life and is all set to make her debut in the Hindi film industry. “I had to do something to earn a living for myself and my child. I did not have any other option. I was approached by director Amjad Khan for a film to which I agreed. I also need money for the legal fight,” she said. She alleged that Shami had prevented her from pursuing her career as a model.
“For five years since I married him I was forced to leave modelling. He would not only prevent me from modelling but would also not let me talk to his friends – male or female. Perhaps because he was apprehensive I would know about his dark past,” she said.

She added that Shami had asked her to lift the case against him. “In May he had asked me to come to a settlement with him and give him a divorce against some money. I said I was not interested outright and would continue with the legal battle till I am alive,” she told DNA.
The film which Jahan has signed is titled ‘Fatwa’ where she plays the role of a print journalist. “All the legworks are being done and shooting would begin in October if everything goes according to plan,” she said.
Director of the film Amjad Khan, told DNA that choosing her for the role had nothing to do with the controversy she was in recently. He had signed him because the role which she would be playing was that of a daredevil character.
“My film is based on a riot which sparks off in Bengal and spreads in different parts of the country. The main two characters are two painters – one of them a Hindu and the other a Muslim and Jahan plays a reporter who is an important character to bring two together. I had known her for a long time and since this reporter is a very strong woman with a fighting spirit, Jahan was my first choice as she fits in like a glove,” he told DNA.
After Jahan had filed a complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against Shami, he has been booked under several non-bailable sections. She had also hinted that Shami might have been involved in a match-fixing racket.
