Suriya's much-awaited 'Soorarai Pottru' is now slated for OTT release. The movie, which was initially looking for a theatrical release, will now be available on Amazon Prime. The release date for 'Soorarai Pottru' has been unveiled, and it will release on October 30, 2020.

Suriya, in a statement, said, "The moment I heard the script from Director Sudha, I was sure it has to be told and I wanted to produce this film under 2D Entertainment. Essaying Capt. Gopinath’s character came to me as a challenge, but we are very proud of our final product! I am glad that audiences across the world will be able to watch Soorarai Pottru, on Amazon Prime Video from their homes in these unprecendented times. Interestingly, 'Soorarai Pottru' is the second film which Suriya decided to release on the OTT platform. Previously his wife's film 'Ponmagal Vandhal', produced by Suriya, had released on the digital platform. It had released on May 29, 2020, just two months after the lockdown was announced.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, 'Soorarai Pottru' features Aparna Balamurali, Dr.M Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Karunas, Vivek Prasanna, Krishna Kumar and Kaali Venkat in pivotal roles. The movie was previously scheduled for Summer 2020 release.

The film is produced by Suriya along with Guneet Monga, under 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment. The movie is touted to be inspired from a real-life story - that of all events which took place in the life of Air Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath.
