A day after Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) denied permission for the 'Sunburn Arena' event that was to be organised at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on Friday, the Mumbai Police too rejected permission to Sunburn's programme at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) at Jio Garden citing non-completion of mandatory requirements and legal formalities.

The 49-year-old DJ's concert in Bengaluru was cancelled on Thursday over concerns about law and order. The organisers cited "law and order situation" following the molestation incident during New Year's Eve as the reason.

"Mumbai Police have denied permission to today's Sunburn programme at BKC for not completing the mandatory requirements and legal formalities," said deputy commissioner of police and Mumbai Police Spokesperson, Ashok Dudhe.

BMC administration had appealed to citizens that they should not buy tickets for the 'Sunburn event' slated on 13 January, 2017 at Bandra-Kurla Complex (Jio Garden) since it is being organised illegally without any permission from the BMC. "Event organisers have not sought any permissions from BMC for the Sunburn Event", the BMC statements issued on Thursday read.

Senior civic officials said that the event organisers - Percept Limited had advertised the venue for the Sunburn event as Mahalaxmi Racecourse without seeking any permissions from the BMC. "In fact, they started advertising the venue and also started booking the tickets without any approvals in hand. This did not go down well with the civic administration as there was a bitter experience of a recently held event in the city", said an official.

According to a PTI report on Friday morning, a spokesperson of the organisers had said, "The Mumbai concert has not been cancelled. It is happening as per the schedule. We have just changed the venue for the event and now we have all necessary permission to do the concert at Jio garden."

Bengaluru was supposed to be Guetta's first stop on his four-city tour. He is slated to perform in Mumbai this evening, in Hyderabad on Saturday and in Delhi on Sunday.
