How many parents can boast about having not one but two of their children launched by Salman Khan, who's been a star-maker for some time now? Suniel and Mana Shetty can!
While Suniel's daughter Athiya is being launched by Salman's banner in Hero, directed by Nikhil Advani, Salman has promised Suniel he will launch 19-year-old Ahaan in three years, after he completes his training in acting, fighting, dancing and diction classes.
A source from the film industry says, "While Athiya was never sure about wanting to become an actress, Ahaan wanted to be an actor right from childhood. The Shetty boy is very close to Salman and only attends his parties. After one such meeting, Salman told Suniel that he would like to launch Ahaan after a few years. Salman is also very happy with the way Athiya and Suraj Pancholi-starrer Hero has shaped up."
Ahaan has completed his basic education in acting and filmmaking from a US university like sister Athiya, but his father wants him to be an all-rounder before he debuts as an actor.
According to the source, "Suniel wants his son to complete a six-month course in acting, script-writing, cinematography, production, brand management, action – the works. Then only will he feel Ahaan is ready to be launched. He wants him to do specialized courses in films. When Suniel entered the film industry he wasn't so well-equipped and had to learn everything on his own. He wants to give his son as much training as he can to be able to fully understand acting and filmmaking. There's plenty of competition in Bollywood with fresh actors coming in every day and Suniel wants Ahaan to face the competition with calmness and keep a balanced head on his shoulders."
Despite repeated attempts to contact him, Suniel remained unavailable for comment.
