Former Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who was granted Indian citizenship earlier this year, has come out in support of the surgical strikes against militants based in Pakistan conducted by the Indian army. This was in wake of the Uri attack in which 18 Indian solders lost their lives.

Sami took to his Twitter account to congratulate the PM and our armed forces for the successful surgical strike against terrorism in Pakistan. He tweeted, "Big Congratulations to @PMOIndia & our brave Armed forces for a brilliant, successful & mature strategic strike against #terrorism ! #Salute"

Apparently this statement of the ex Pakistani singer didn't go down well with some of the natives of the neighbouring country who got outraged and started lashing out against Sami. But Sami had a befitting reply ready for them. He wrote, "Pakistanis r outraged by my earlier tweet. Their outburst clearly means they see Terrorist & Pakistan as the same! #selfgoal #stopterrorism"

Adnan Sami was born in Lahore and first came to India on March 2013 on a visitor's visa, issued by the Indian Commission in Islamabad. From time to time, his visa got extended but when his passport expired on May 26, 2015, the Pakistani government didn't renew it. This made him turn to the Indian government and request it to legalise his stay in India on humanitarian grounds. He was officially granted the Indian citizenship earlier this year.
