Actress Rati Agnihotri and her husband booked in electricity theft case

Bollywood actress Rati Agnihotri and her husband Anil Virwani have been booked in a case of electricity theft of Rs 48.96 lakh. The case was registered on Thursday, informs the police.

As per a report on NDTV.com, the couple had apparently tampered the electricity meter of their house in Sterling Sea Face Apartment near Nehru Planetarium in Worli area (Mumbai). The alleged tampering came to the notice of the vigilance team of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) when they visited the actor's home, adds the report.

A police official informed that an engineer had noticed that the couple had reportedly not paid for 1,77, 647 units of electricity by tampering the electricity meter at their residence since April 4, 2013. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pravin Padwal was quoted saying, "We have registered an offence against the accused persons on the complaint of electricity engineer and further investigation is on," adds the report.
