Varun Dhawan had transformed into a different man altogether while shooting for Badlapur. The happy-go-lucky, fun loving Varun was gone and we had a more serious Raghu. With ABCD 2 rolling in, Varun reveals that its the dance film that helped act as a rehab for his film.
"Badlapur had transformed me into a different man altogether. It was so realistic and such a dark film that I stopped talking much, interacting much with anyone. I kind of remained aloof and stayed away from everyone. But ABCD 2 acted like a rehab for me," Varun revealed.
It was one particular scene that made him realise that he needs a change. "For the first three days, I was like a zombie who knew he was a part of this film but the mind was somewhere else. I had just come out of Badlapur. So there was this one particular scene in the film where we shoot a dance sequence and they throw me in the air and I take a somersault and land on my feet. That's when I realised that I am in ABCD 2 and I am no more in Badlapur and from there onwards, the old Varun was back," he told.
When asked to pick between Badlapur and ABCD 2, the actor came up with the reply very fast. "Right now, it's definitely ABCD 2," he chuckled. When questioned about his choice, Varun explained. "I don't believe in clinging to the past. Rather, I look forward to the future and act according to the present."
The actor, who's paired with Shraddha Kapoor for the first time in the film also revealed that while the film was like a rehab, Shraddha 'acted like his therapist'. "Shraddha was the therapist for me who helped me come out of Badlapur and be Suresh of ABCD 2," Varun smiled. Shraddha too adds, "In the first two-three days, Varun was totally different. It seemed as if his body was there but his mind was not. So it took just a few days to get him back on track."
The theatrical trailer of ABCD 2 has just hit the digital platforms and has already upped our excitement levels ABCD 2 is slated for a release on June 12.
