Aamir Khan's 'PK' gets highest ever debut at US box office

PK, a story of an alien trying to learn the ways of human beings, had a strong home opening of Rs 95.21 crores over the weekend. But that's not all. It has also got the highest grossing Bollywood film debut of all time at the US box office, reported Guardian.co.uk.

The movie, also starring Anushka Sharma and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, opened in 10th place in North America, pocketing $3.46 million at the weekend. Second highest opener Dhoom 3, which also had a strong opening earnings of $3.44 million, also starred Aamir Khan. Third movie to make it to top 10 at US box office in the last decade is Ranbir Kapoor starrer Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

Aamir Khan's last movies have started the - now barometer of success - 100 and 200 crore clubs. His Ghajini started the 100 crore club and then 3 Idiots started the latter one. His Dhoom 3, the highest grossing movie of all time made Rs 283 crore at the domestic box office arena,    .

Aiming at the Christmas holidays, the movie is being screened on 4500 screens across the world in multiple languages.

PK, which marked the return of the Director -Actor duo of 3 Idiots , also opened in the UK, results from their box office are expected later in this week. So far, the movie has made $22.13 million worldwide.
