Anil Kapoor will perform with Gen Next actors at the Zee Cine Awards. It’s been seven years since his last act
Anil Kapoor doesn’t perform at too many award shows. He last did so in 2009, at the Stardust Awards. Now, seven years on, he will perform at the Zee Cine Awards on February 20. And he won’t just groove to his own hits, but also those of Gen-Next actors.
At the ZCA 2016 press con held last week, the younger brigade - Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon and the like — sounded quite excited about Anil’s performance. Shahid said, “I am very excited about the Zee Cine Awards 2016 because after many, many years, Anil Kapoor is not just hosting, but performing on the awards night. We all know about his legendary energy, enthusiasm and commitment.”
The idea behind AK’s act is to show Gen-Next actors that he’s no lesser than them. He will take them on in a light-hearted way and will perform to some peppy tracks of the newer actors’ films. Only Anil can do this. Says a source, “Some of these actors are expected to join him on stage. Anil is the life of every show he attends. This is expected to be no different. His performance is one of the surprise elements on the show as well as one of the highlights.
He is charged about it and is expected to begin rehearsals this week.
Anil says, “It will be fun, and happy and energetic. I will be dancing — instead of cardio — and will be losing a couple of kilos with it. Ranveer (Singh) and I say that performing at events and shows is like doing cardio — there’s so much exercising involved! Performing at the Zee Cine Awards is a good opportunity to get together, meet everybody and have some fun. It’s true that I don’t perform at too many awards events and I am performing after seven years, but then I am choosy about everything in life. I am not a dancer like Hrithik (Roshan), Tiger (Shroff) or Ranveer. But I am an actor and I will do anything to entertain people.”
