If anybody epitomises fitness, it is Bipasha Basu. The actress went from fat to fit a few years ago after a daily commented on her ‘plump figure’ post her first release. She has already released three fitness DVD’s, including her latest which involves an intensive training routine. Bipasha says she has always championed the cause of running though her knees prevent her from running too much now.

The actress says, “Running is a liberating and simple way to stay fit provided you don’t have any joint or back issues. Not only weight loss, it relieves stress and eliminates depression. It raises levels of good cholesterol, increases lung function, boosts your immune system and for women can help to lower the risk of breast cancer. It strengthens the heart and reduces risk of heart attacks too. So put your running shoes on and start running now. I personally do less of it as I have osteoarthritis of knees from last eight years. But I envy all good runners. In fact, in my latest fitness DVD Unleash, though I can’t do running I have variations and a lot of cardio like jump twist, jumping jacks, jump rope, all on the spot!”

She adds, “I would like to tell the women running at the DNA ICan Women’s half-marathon and to others to love yourself and start investing in your health now. And remember it should be long-term as there are no short cuts to being healthy.”
