Musician Anuradha Pal launches her new album with a live performance in the city

Tabla player, percussionist and music composer Anuradha Pal is launching her new album Get Recharged this weekend. The eight-track album belongs to the trademark world music genre that her band Recharge encompasses.
"But each song has a distinctive concept," she insists. "I have been a classical musician, but at the same time I have been very experimental," Her band, as she describes it, is a confluence of jazz, Indian classical music with a middle eastern influence.
Recharge was the only Indian band to perform for a record audience of 4 lakh people at the Woodstock festival in 2008. "There are over 40 percussion instruments that I have used in this album — tabla, mridangam, ghatang, kanjira. There is also the African talking derum, djembe, odoo, darbuka (middle eastern drum). While the latin instruments include congo, bongo, bells and chimes...," reveals Anuradha.
