A record player: Shah Rukh Khan's gift to Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The dosti between Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali had somewhat eroded when there was a direct clash between Shah Rukh’s Om Shanti Om and SLB’s Saawariya on the same Friday six years ago. But looks like today the actor and the director are back on an even footing.

Shah Rukh has gone out of his way to be gracious and warm. The other day he surprised SLB by gifting him a record player, which was the only mode of music-playing until the 1960s, but went off manufacturing in the 1980s. But they have now made a comeback as a super-elite mode of music playing.

Says a source, “Once defunct, now the record player is considered a very sophisticated means of music listening.

Shah Rukh knows that Sanjay is a huge music lover. He had a record player with a handful of carefully selected rpm records sent over as a gift to Sanjay. This isn’t the only gesture of friendship that Shah Rukh has extended to Bhansali.

Recently, when the two were shooting on adjacent sets in Film City, Shah Rukh hopped over to SLB’s set to personally invite the director for his Eid party. And the elusive director dropped in to wish the actor at his home.”
