Despite offers to perform for New Year’s Eve, Sonam Kapoor has always chosen to bring in the New Year with her family instead. “It’s not something that’s dictated, but I always try to bring in the New Year spending time with my family and loved ones. For me, celebrating it with my family is very important. It’s an unsaid rule that I try to follow,” Sonam had said.
However, this year, the actress made an exception to the rule. Sonam brought in the New Year in Varanasi where she was shooting for her film Raanjhana. “Usually, the Kapoor family takes off to Goa for Anil’s birthday and returns only after celebrating the New Year there. However, this year Sonam was on a very tight schedule and she could not stay after celebrating her dad’s birthday on December 24. She reported back to the sets of the film on December 27 and after a working New Year, is expected to shoot there till January 10,” shares a source.
A source close to Sonam reveals that the family has always made it a point to come together on Anil’s birthday as it’s also an annual vacation for the family. Despite having a very tight shoot schedule for the film that also stars Dhanush, Sonam was keen to take a three-day break for her father’s celebrations.
“She requested director Anand Rai to let her take off from December 24-26 and instead agreed to shoot during New Year. This time around, it was a working New Year for Sonam and she brought it in on the ghats of the holy city. It was a beautiful experience for her,” says the source.
