A headband could be solution to migraines

A headband which looks like something out of the Star Trek series could be the solution to rid you of your painful migraines.

The study was carried out by researchers from the Headache Research Unit at Liège University in Belgium.

It works by delivering electric impulses to the supraorbital nerve that controls sensation in and around the eye. A study found those patients who used it had a decrease in debilitating headaches by a third, after a couple of months. The number of people whose migraines were reduced by half or more were also tripled, according to the findings.
 

How it works
All you have to do is hook it over the ears and wear it across the forehead like futuristic sunglasses for 20 minutes daily.
A similar technique has worked on patients with pain in other parts of the body such as the back.

How much it costs
The device costs around £260 ( approx Rs22,000) and is available in Europe. It is yet to hit the Indian markets.

How safe is it?
Dr GC Dey says,"There are lots of fake samples floating around. I would advise you to wait and watch before more concrete results are unveiled. Safety, effectiveness, acceptability, and convenience would also need to be compared to standard medical treatments currently used for migraine prevention.”
