This Raksha Bandhan,  Prasoon Joshi, who is known for writing lyrics that perfectly resonate human emotions, has penned a poem to celebrate the brother-sister bond. The poet, writer and adguru, shares the poem with our readers. Speaking about the inspiration behind it, he says, “The inspiration comes from life. I have two sisters — Kaumudi and Maulshree — and though they are younger to me I have seen more mature emotions in them. In conversation with friends and colleagues, who have sisters, I have often found them touching upon a similar sentiment.  So, in a way it’s dedicated to my sisters, but am sure it will resonate with many other brothers. For a brother-sister bond is very unique and I truly cherish it.”

Speaking about his relationship wit his two sisters he says, “Kaumudi is spontaneous, full of life and a sheer joy to be with. She has a bright and bizarre take on almost anything and never fails to pull my leg. A talented and gifted girl, she is also very tough and resilient. I have seen her face adversities and have learnt from her how not to take yourself or life too seriously.  Maulshree is the gentle and deep one. Although she is much younger, I am at complete ease discussing intricate issues with her. She is my bouncing board in many a matter and I value her sharply thought out, but always sensitive feedback. I have seen her continuously grow and expand her horizons creatively and intellectually and as with Kaumudi, I feel fortunate to have her as a sibling.”

Considering he wears so many hats simultaneously and his hectic schedule, it does become difficult for him to meet them on Raksha Bandhan. He says, “They both stay in Delhi. And if not on Raksha Bandhan, I do try and make time to meet and chat with them. But yes, the hectic schedule does make it difficult. Thankfully, there is no distance between us emotionally. We are deeply connected and can go weeks without touching base and yet pick up the strands in a heartbeat. I take them for granted and vice a versa.”

Behen aksar tumse badi hoti hai

Behen aksar tumse badi hoti hai
Umr mein chahe choti ho,
Par ek bada sa ehsaas lekar Khadi hoti hai

Behen aksar tumse badi hoti hai
Usse maloom hota hai tum der raat lautoge
Tabhi chupke se drawaza khula chodd deti hai
Usse pata hota hai ke tum jhoot bol rahe ho
Aur bas muskurake  usse dhak leti hai

Woh  tumse ladti hai par ladti nahi
Woh aksar haar kar jeet -ti  rahi tumse
Jisse kabhi chot nahi lagti aisi ek chadi hai

Par Rakhi ke din jab
Ek patla Sa dhaga
Bandhati hai kalaee pe
Main koshish karta hun bada hone ki
Dhaago ke israar par hi Sahi
Kucchh pal ke liye main bada hota hun
Ek meetha sa rishta nibhaane ki liye khada hota hun
Nahi toe aksar  Behen hi tumse badi hoti hai
Umr mein chahe chhoti ho,
par ek badaa sa ehsaas liye khadi hoti hai
