50 Shades of Romance

Chocolates and roses are passe. With 50 Shades of Grey becoming the object of everyone's obsession, it's all about whips and "toys" that hotels around the world are offering lovers this Valentine's Day. The movie based on EL James' books also releases this weekend.

The Edgewater Hotel, Seattle, Washington
The hotel offers the No Grey Area packages for $14,169 (approx `8.7 lakh) . Coinciding with the release of the movie as well as Valentine's Day, the hotel is offering packages that will cater to those who are crazy about the book and want to live it in real life. The No Grey Area package will include use of Christian Grey's favourite vehicle - Audi R8 Spyder, a helicopter tour of seatle, a bottle of Bollinger Rose (champagne that Anastasia likes) and various aphrodisiac appetizers. Also, there will be a Karma Sutra book placed in your bedroom. The idea behind the offer that runs up to February 28 is to have those who opt for it to explore the city and set the mood for a romantic day like the characters in the book.

The three hotels have various packages to turn your fantasies into reality. For $659 (approx `40.5K), you get to start the experience with a of Veuve Clicquot Brut on arrival. You will then head to La Perla or Agent Provocateur to find $200 (approx `12.5K) credit in store. A trip to the Museum of Sex comes next before you head to your room where you'll find an "amenity kit", which will contain a few "toys" like those in the book. Yes, it includes a neck tie. Then there's the Aphrodisiac room service where oysters, bananas, avocados and chocolate covered strawberries will be avaliable. You can end the day with a 50-minute couples massage.

The hotel offers a package title 50 Plaids of Wa-hay'. The package will cost you $3,004 (approx `1.84 lakh). For the money you'll get and butler who will be at your call. The package for $1,951 (approx `1.20 lakh) will get you a glass of champagne, two nights' stay, a full Scottish breakfast, a massage and a little box of toys to play with that includes fluffy handcuffs, feather ticklers, a ruler and sensual bath oil.

Personality Hotels is offering a '50 Shades Of Woman' package called 'Come Again'. They'll deliver a discrete little black box full of unspeakable play things, designed by upscale sex toy company Minna Life, to your room for $150 (approx `9.5 thousand). The aim is to get you to live out all your favourite scenes from the book. And if you feel bad about indulging in an expensive package, there's a good cause attached to it. The hotel will donate $10 (approx `614) from each box to the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund.

Where Christian met Ana...
Heathman Hotel, Portland, Oregon
This is where Christian and Ana had their first romantic meeting. Obviously, the hotel is going all out to cash in on the attention that the hotel got because of the book. Their Inner Goddess package, which includes a bottle of pouille fume wine, and a keepsake grey tie. Then there's the 'Charlie Tango No Limits' deal priced at $2,750 (approx `1.69 lakh). The package includes appetisers and wine for six people, a helicopter tour of the city, roses, dinner at the hotel and a limo transfer to the helipad. For those who want to take it a notch higher, there's the $7,500 (approx `4.61 lakh) Oregon package for two. This six-night extravaganza will have the buyer enjoying romantic private dinners, some tax-free shopping in Portland, a beach bonfire, a ride in a snowcat and a luxury car to ferry you about. And to add to the experience guests can order the 'Fifty Shades Of Gin cocktail' with rhubarb puree and lime that his been created by resident bartender, Brian Hilby.
