When Baahubali released in July 2015, people weren't introduced to the world and mystic that SS Rajamouuli had created. It was after the film released that it became such a craze, a phenomenon.
Baahubali has set the standards of Indian filmmaking rather high. And it is difficult for most films to raise the bar from here. The makers and the full team are back with the sequel Baahubali 2 which will be concluding the story that they started in part one.
With the characters getting a space and euphoria of their own, the mass hysteria around the film is huge. So is the pre release buzz. The film hits theaters this Friday and trade pundits have already predicted an avalanche at the box office.

Pre release sales!
Baahubali was just a hysteria down South last time, because of Rajamouli. Now, it's not just another South film dubbed in Hindi anymore.. It's a pan India film and is probably witnessing a stupendous pre release buzz that is mostly enjoyed by Khans across the nation. But Baahubali seems to be topping that as well, thanks to the brilliant support from South, which is missing for our Bollywood films. The advance sales show tremendous growth and in certain areas, the tickets are booked till May 12. That is the craze of Baahubali. The film is expected to amass over Rs 30 crore biz just from its advance bookings this weekend. That's huge.
Opening day
It is a no Brainer that Baahubali 2 is bigger than Baahubali. In terms of scale, budget as well as promotions. So while Baahubali raked in over Rs 50 crore gross on its opening day, Baahubali 2 is expected to bring in at least Rs 85 crore gross from all over India. It might not even increase, depending on the ticket sales on Friday.
Highest single day figures:
Expect an Earth shattering biz on Sunday. The film is mostly likely to be the first film to bring in Rs 100 crore on a single day. We are talking about gross figures here and if a Friday settled around Rs 85 crore, a 20% growth is minimum for a powerful film like this. That would mean the film will also record the highest single day gross figures for any Indian film ever.
Highest opening weekend:
The first 3 day gross collection for Baahubali was around Rs 160 crore which was huge. With Baahubali 2, it will be mammoth. A Rs 85 crore Friday, the Saturday should be around Rs 90 crore and Sunday will definitely be Rs 100 crore gross. The total 3 day gross collections should be around Rs 280 crore at least. It won't be surprising if it crosses the 300 crore mark in its opening weekend itself.
Lifetime collections:
Baahubali settled somewhere around Rs 650 crore mark globally. The gross figures were so high that it also became the third highest grossing Indian film ever post its release. Now with Dangal, it stands on fourth place.. But hold on, Baahubali 2 might just condition itself so well at the box office that it is most likely to be the first Indian film to hit a billion.. If there is one film that can fetch Rs 1000 crore in its lifetime, it's this one. But even if it doesn't touch the billion mark, it will comfortably cross the lifetime figures of its predecessor for sure.
