While supermodels routinely walk the thin line from ramp to reel, in no other year has there been such an exodus of beauties. And like any film industry, there are several eyes beholding these beauties to spice up their projects. While the runway is their first love and they're committed to careers in modelling for the most part, some strike gold or make their mark in Hollywood or on the international film stage and stay back. Some even juggle their careers in film and on the ramp. Here's a list of those who made their mark on the silver screen this year

Cara Delevingne
In 2014
: The Face Of An Angel
The darling of fashion houses and filmmakers (not to mention assorted celebs) everywhere, Cara made her film debut in 2012 in Anna Karenina and had several small roles come her way over the years. This year, however, went quietly with only one film of note, Michael Winterbottom's The Face Of An Angel, coming her way. Based on the Amanda Knox saga, it had Cara playing Melanie, an independent, free-spirited student who befriends a filmmaker investigating the case. As one viewer noted, she was the only bright spot in an otherwise dark, dour film. More power to the girl, who will have a busy 2015, with as many as five films due to release next year and DC/Warner's Suicide Squad in 2016!

Kate Upton
In 2014
: The Other Woman
Tower Heist is a below-the-radar movie released in 2011 that marked the debut of this bright British spark. Kate's got a hearty, winsome smile to go with her totally fabulous frame. And that becomes more apparent in this year's off-kilter comedy The Other Woman than in 2012's The Three Stooges, where she had a significant, yet brief role. In The Other Woman, she decides to get even with three-timing Nikolaj Coster-Waldau by teaming up with his wife (played by Leslie Mann) and girlfriend (Cameron Diaz). As a ditzy blonde, she holds her own in comic timing with veterans Diaz and Mann. 2015 is going to be a busy year for her as well.

Irina Shayk
In 2014
: Hercules (Debut)
There's no denying that she's better known as football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend, but she's so much more! Irina hasn't just glammed up mag covers and catwalks, the Russian babe has even made her debut this year opposite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in Hercules. And while she's barely there in the film (she's shown to be killed off by her husband), she stands out among a sea of faces in the only watchable film on the Greek demi-god released this year (there were three!).

Brooklyn Decker
In 2014
: Stretch
This well-known Victoria's Secret supermodel did TV shows before breaking through with Just Go With It in 2011 and following it up with Battleship and What To Expect When You're Expecting in 2012. A year's break later, she resurfaced this year with direct-to-video Stretch starring Patrick Wilson and Chris Pines. The film has her playing wild and materialistic ex to Wilson's character, a limo driver who's chauffeuring a mysterious billionaire played by Pines. Wilson and Decker feature in a sex scene in the film, which can be summed up in one word: awkward.

Bar Paly
In 2014
: Million Dollar Arm, Non-Stop
Russian-born Israeli model Paly began a career in modelling at 17. Starting 2003, she acted in several films and television shows, but it was her roles in 2013 in Roman Coppola's A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III starring Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, and Michael Bay's Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, that actually got her noticed. 2015 will see the beauty in three films currently under production, Headlock, Trainwreck and Urge. Bar ko baar-baar dekho!

Jaime King
In 2014
: Sin City A Dame To Kill For
Discovered in 1993 at age 14, Jaime got signed with a modelling agency, appearing in several fashion mags of note over the years and walking for the likes of Chanel and Christian Dior. The American girl worked hard, but partied equally hard and it took the death of her then-boyfriend (from drug abuse) to get her to clean up her act. She quickly rose through the ranks, moving on to acting and writing, doing better in the latter with roles in films like Sin City, Pearl Harbor and A Dame To Kill For among others. She has a recurring role in TV series Hart of Dixie and has one role announced so far, in husband Kyle Newman's Barely Lethal. Meanwhile Jay-Z has signed her on to be the face of Rocawear.

Lydia Hearst
In 2014
: Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero
Her initial claim to fame? She's Randolph Hearst's great granddaughter and 2008's Supermodel of the Year (at the Michael Awards), but that and this heiress' philanthropic activities aside, she debuted in Last International Playboy (she's the partly nude girl on the film's poster) as a sexy model who's continuously between the covers with the film's lead actor. She has appeared in several films (mostly horror flicks and other shorts). This year, CF3 may have been the only film that you could sit through and it's easy enough to miss her in it, but that hasn't stopped her from bagging more roles in three upcoming films next year. One thing's for sure, poor career choices aside, she's here to stay.

Olga Kurylenko
In 2014
: The November Man
Born in Ukraine, this supermodel was discovered at age 13 and moved to Paris at 16. By 18, her face was everywhere. She did French films and stuff like Hitman (2007) and Max Payne (2008), but it was Bond movie Quantum of Solace opposite Daniel Craig that changed her fortunes and made her a name to be reckoned with. Vampire Academy and The Water Diviner may have been her other releases this year, but it is in The November Man opposite former Bond Pierce Brosnan that she had a role of note. Next year, she has three films lined up so far, all are currently in post-production

THE VETERANS
Charlize Theron
In 2014
: A Million Ways To Die In The West
This South African bombshell still looks like a million bucks and has long since moved from supporting roles and second fiddles to strong, independent characters. In the satire, A Million Ways... she starts opposite Seth MacFarlane in a film that wasn't as well-received as one would expect. She's a vision, nevertheless and while it may have been her sole release this year, much is expected from her next, out in 2015, Mad Max Fury Road. Trailers and images released show in a never-before avatar and has several action fans - who loved her in Aeon Flux - hoping she's on screen for most of the film.

Monica Bellucci
In 2014
: La Meraviglie (The Wonders)
The actress and sexy supermodel is an eternal favourite on the ramp and on the screen. She needs no introduction either. Her sole release this year was a film by Alice Rowrwacher, a coming-of-age tale about children in an idiosyncratic family of beekeepers who live in the Italian countryside. She plays Milly Catena, the OTT hostess of a tacky television show called Countryside Wonders that's hunting for the area's 'most traditional family'. The film (and among other things, Monica's performance, we're sure) won the director the Grand Prix at Cannes this year. And as she turns 50, there's no stopping her... she's going to be the oldest Bond girl ever in the next Bond flick SPECTRE. Viva Monica!
