While the Indian Premier League paved way for an amazing fusion of sports and entertainment, with their catchphrase 'Cricket weds Entertainment', Bollywood slowly found their connection with sports. With heavyweight names owning sports teams, be it Cricket, Football or even Kabaddi, Bollywood has continuously backed India's sporting dreams. 

And now that the Kabaddi league is making the right waves, with a host of Bollywood celebrities turning up the barometric levels, we present to you some of the biggest Bollywood stars who own Sports teams.

Shah Rukh Khan:

Shah Rukh was a sports freak in his college days. From cricket to football and even hockey, our King Khan aced it all. And when it came to taking the plunge, he decided to do it by owning a team in the Indian Premier League. his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, despite having a miserable start managed to push the envelope and emerge victorious, not once but twice! 

Juhi Chawla:

The co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Juhi has been actively involved with her team, attending team matches and visiting temples all around the country, praying for the team's victory! Sugary sweet.

Priety Zinta:

Priety's a true sportsman! Despite having never won the championship, she has maneged to stick to her team through thick and thin. Embroiled in controversies, the entire team must have had a tough time dealing with situations, but it was Priety's 'jadoo ki jhappi' that worked magic for the Kings XI Punjab each time!

Shilpa Shetty:

She made head turns with her hour-glass figure sashaying down the ramps and in her scintillating item girl avatars doing all the matkas and the jhatkas. But when it came to being an owner of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, she mailed it with grace and elegance. Even her team was embroiled in controversies but Shilpa stayed calm and walked her way through with her team!

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi:

Sridevi did not mind taking the sporty plunge with husband Boney Kapoor when he decided to own the Bengal Tigers team at the Celebrity Cricket League. Although the team did not have much of a luck in the tournament, Sridevi did up the glamour factor with her appearances. 

Sohail Khan:

While most expected brother Salman Khan to own a cricket team, just after Shah Rukh did the same, it was the other Khan who decided to do the honours. Sohail Khan owned the 'Mumbai Heroes' team in the Celebrity Cricket League. Although they too could never crack the gold, the team was the hot favourite, courtesy some starry appearances and Salman Khan! 

Abhishek Bachchan:

Another sports fanatic, Abhishek has always cheered for his favourite teams- Mumbai Indians and Chelsea- every time they went on the field. His enthusiasm and interest is evident the way he's been supporting his own Kabaddi team - The Jaipur Pink Panthers- in the ongoing Pro-Kabaddi League.

Sonakshi Sinha:

Another new entrant into the world of sports, Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha has recently bought a team in the World Kabaddi League. Called the United Singhs, Sonakshi is all prepped up to cheer for her team. And guess what? All this happening right after they shot a kabaddi sequence for her upcoming film, 'Tevar'. Coincidence much?

Akshay Kumar:

Akshay Kumar has ceremoniously flaunted his Khiladi avatar when it came to doing the action stunts in his movies or in his television encounters. now we will get to see his 'Khiladi' side up while he cheers for his team, the Khalsa Warriors at the World Kabaddi League that starts later this year.

Yo Yo Honey Singh:

The celebrated rapper, who usually is in news for his songs and catchy tunes, decided to jump on the sports bandwagon and own a Kabaddi team. His 'Yo Yo Tigers' team is all set to rock the charts, much like his songs!

Ranbir Kapoor:

Ranbir Kapoor is a huge Barcelona fanatic and he decided to take his love for the game to a newer level by owning a football team in the upcoming Indian Super League. While the tournament will have eight teams, Ranbir will be owning the Mumbai franchise. 

John Abraham:

While most know the passionate biker that resides within John Abraham, people hardly know that John, like many others is fascinated by sports. He co-owns the Delhi Waveriders Team and supported his team to victory at the Hockey India League earlier this year. And now that he's also bought the Guwahati franchise in the upcoming football tournament, Indian Super League, we will get to see the sporty side of John a lot more in the coming months.

Salman Khan:

Salman Khan is the latest one to join the list. And he's the biggest one too! The actor who could be seen cheering his brother's team in the Celebrity Cricket League for sometime now will now have his own team at the Indian Super League. Salman has bought the Pune franchise and given the sportsman that he's always been, his Dabangg antics will be the ones to watch out for!
