There are too many first time pairings this season and it’s shaping up to be the season of fresh romances. Our favourite girl-next-door Shraddha Kapoor will be seen as Arjun Kapoor’s Half Girlfriend in an upcoming release. Also, Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput are cast together in Raabta. While Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra will sizzle together on screen for the first time in Reload, another fresh jodi is that of Varun Dhawan and Tapsee Pannu in Judwaa 2. We may or may not be excited about these first-time screen pairs, but we are definitely kicked about the idea of the undermentioned pairs, who we think will add oodles of oomph and gravitas on screen...

Girl-Next-Door meets Mr Quicksilver
Shraddha Kapoor-Ranveer Singh

The demure, doe-eyed beauty has sparked with the likes of Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Arjun Kapoor in the past and it totally makes sense to see her with the Bajirao hottie. It will be a delectable clash of the two very diverse personas and hence the visual OMG-inducing epiphany on screen. While she is sweet, soft-spoken and shy, Ranveer is wild and has an infectious energy palpable at his airport appearances and the red carpet events, he attends. Their personal styles are also the two opposite ends of the spectrum. While she’s shown a penchant for wearable, easy breezy clothing, he’s shown up in a pair of PJ twin set for a black tie event. It goes without saying that the duo will complement each other if given an interesting script. While she can play the dainty, well brought up girl effortlessly, he’ll play the ultimate knight in the shining armour to the T.

Moony Millennials
Tiger Shroff-Disha Patani

They are the picture-perfect B-Town couple. Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani drive paparazzi and Instagram crazy every time they make an appearance together. Also, never before has a real-life couple been cast together for this long. She was slated to debut with him in Heropanti, but was replaced. Both are in excellent shape and proud of their bodies (one look at the images posted on their Insta feeds and you know what we’re talking about). One can’t wait to see this hot couple together real soon.

Mr and Miss Intellectual
Sushant Singh Rajput-Kangana Ranaut

Both are known to be deep thinkers, profound philosophers and also loners. Given the shenanigans in their personal lives, both harbour broken hearts. Also, both are outsiders who’ve made it big in the industry can indulge in long conversations and endless debates about the lethal tentacles of nepotism engulfing the industry. Sushant’s tweets are very abstract and so are Kangana’s emails. Also, since currently both are single, they won’t let their off-screen drama affect their on-screen performances.

Gentleman with gaon ki gori
Ayushmann Khurrana-Sonakshi Sinha

The talented actor/singer has a history of working with actresses — from Bhumi Pednekar to Parineeti Chopra. Hence given Sonakshi’s rustic charm and appeal, she will be perfect. One can easily picture a good girl with the touch-me-not vibe giving her heart to the perfect gentleman. One can’t expect kissing or anything too explicit but a very understated and coy portrayal of romance. Also, thankfully, he isn’t the sort to flash his abs unlike so many of his ilk. They can both smile and look into each other eyes and this seems like a sure-shot pairing for a romantic film.

The tale of the lumberjack and his lady love
Arjun Kapoor-Vaani Kapoor

Both have too many factors in common. While he has worked with Ranveer Singh in Gunday, she romanced his best buddy Ranveer Singh in Befikre. Now it’s time they did a film together. Besides both of them are Aditya Chopra’s protégés. Maybe he should cast them together. We’ll take the casting commission, thank you very much!

Hamlet and the Little Miss Sunshine
Aditya Roy Kapoor-Anushka Sharma

He’s essayed a tortured, doomed soul in every second film and every time he’s got stuck in his own Waterloo. However, she’s always played an achiever, and a go-getter in almost every film — be it NH10 or Sultan. The actress-producer has an unabashed nothing-holding-me-back vibe. It’ll be terrific to see the polar on-screen opposites share their world canvas.

Killer chemistry
Jacqueline Fernandez-Sooraj Pancholi

They will both have Salman Khan’s blessings for one. While he is shy, she’s the giggly pout princess who ever lived. They can bring that contrast effortlessly. They already starred in GF, BF music video which got 75 million views, which is remarkable. And it was way back in 2015 so one can easily deduce how popular they’d be if one brought them together. They’ll play out better in a bigger cinematic format.

Karan’s angels
Harshvardhan Rane-Alia Bhatt

He is present at all of Karan Johar’s parties, who is also Alia’s Godfather. Now if anyone can bring them together, it is the Dharma man. But it’s imperative that the filmmaker thinks outside the box. Yes, we do mean Sidharth Malhotra (Kapoor And Sons), Ranbir Kapoor (Dragon) and Varun Dhawan (Badrinath). He has already cast her with this trio. Now maybe he can weave this fresh pair together. While she radiates a doe-eyed innocence and a strong city-girl-preppy vibe, he comes across as a rugged country boy rescuing damsels in distress.

Real romance into reel
Harshvardhan Kapoor and Rhea Chakraborty

Well, we see them together off screen all the time — at restaurants, parties and coffee shops and it just might be a good change to see them on screen too. Both are young and upcoming. Also, taking a much-in-love, young couple and translating their chemistry into an onscreen narrative is something, which has not been attempted before. He’s a Kapoor scion while she’s incredibly popular on social media with a huge fan following. He’s got a shy, brooding-young-man vibe which will be offset by her bubbly, vivacious appeal. While he’s rugged and has tough boy looks which will be complemented by her ultra-feminine charm.

Juhu meets SoBo
Varun Dhawan-Athiya Shetty

Varun’s pairing with the tall Kriti Sanon in Dilwale was appreciated even though the film was a failure. The fact that Athiya’s taller than him, it’ll make for a goofball pairing. Also, she’s a South Mumbai girl and while he’s a Juhu kid. They’ll complement each other in a North-meets-South caper. Miss Shetty needs a hit and Dhawan’s been a hit machine.

Old world poetry
Huma Qureshi-Farhan Akhtar

Her full-figured beauty exudes an old world charm in a sea of skinny actresses. Her voluptuous body beautifully fits the classic mould while Farhan has proved himself to be a performance chameleon — from playing an athletic sardar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to a rockstar in Rock On!!. It’ll be a treat to see them in a well-written period biopic helmed on a poetic narrative, with dialogues written by Farhan’s dad Javed.
