The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Game of Thrones and Veep emerged as the big winners.
It was an FX vs HBO battle for the most wins which the latter won, with Amazon and Netflix making their presence felt.
Here are all the winners of the glamorous night.
1. Louie Anderson

Louie Anderson plays Christine Baskets, mother to brothers Chip and Dale, in the FX series Baskets. Well deserved win, since he is the only good thing about the show. (AFP)
2. Kate McKinnon
)
Kate McKinnon was a revelation in Ghostbusters. But the accolades for tonight were well deserved because it is impossible to not imagine McKinnon in Saturday Night Live. McKinnon makes the sketches funny, sometimes saves them. Her performance as Hillary Clinton is unforgettable. (AFP)
3. Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang
)
The duo behind Netflix's Master of None took home the Emmy for Best Writing for a Comedy Series. Alan Yang requested Asian-American parents to give their children a camera instead of a violin so that the community will have better representation in the industry. Ansari, on the other hand, said nothing. He made up for it later in the show. (AFP)
4. Jill Soloway

Jill Soloway won the trophy for Best Director for a Comedy Series for the second time in a row for Amazon's Transparent. Her mantra for everyone in the audience— TOPPLE THE PATRIARCHY! (AFP)
5. Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Emmy royalty took stage for the eighth time. She picked up the trophy for lead actress in a comedy for the fifth time in a row. She picked up the trophy for playing Selina Meyer in the HBO series. In her incredible speech, she said, "Veep has torn down the wall between comedy and politics. It started as a political satire but it now turned out to be a documentary, so she is going to rebuild that wall and make Mexico pay for it." (AFP)

Jeffrey Tambor won the Best Actor in Comedy Series for playing a transgender character Maura Pfefferman. In his speech he called industry to give the transgender talent a chance. Was that a take on the controversy surrounding Matt Bomer and his new movie Anything? (AFP)
7. The Voice

Show-creator Mark Burnett accepted the award for the Best TV Reality show. While accepting the award, he promoted the current season, accepted his part in giving Donald Trump a platform via Celebrity Apprentice and rooted for Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus as Supreme Court judges. (Facebook)

This marked Regina King's second win for her portrayal of Aliyah Shadeed in American Crime. (Reuters)

Winning his first Emmy ever for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, Sterling K Brown took help from Jay Z's lyrics from The Black Album to appreciate his wife, "I got the hottest chick in the game rocking my chain." (Reuters)

Sarah Paulson and Ryan Murphy have become an indomitable duo at Emmys. Earlier, they won the awards for American Horror Story. This time Paulson's portrayal of Marcia Clarke in The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story won her and the show accolades. (Reuters)
