Cannes Film Festival is the most talked about extravaganza of movies. It brings big names in the world of movies on one platform. Getting picked for Cannes is just as prestigious as bagging a BAFTA or an Oscar. Many movies that premiere at the festival in the South of France are considered to be Oscar front-runners.

But movies are not all this festival is all about. The second reason Cannes manages to grab attention is the fashion on the red carpet. Ladies come prepared with an arsenal of designer dresses and accessories.

The year 2016 is no different. The festival kicked off on May 11. Let's take a look at who wore what!

Blake Lively, pregnant with her second child with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, showed how to do maternity in style. For the morning photocall for her film Cafe Society, Lively chose a red jumpsuit by Juan Carlos Obando. Come evening, for the opening ceremony, she picked up a shimmering Atelier Versace gown with a patchwork of sheer panels. The best transition of the day from morning to the evening! (Getty)

3. Eva Longoria

Ummm, what is going on? We are not amused by the serpent combination of the dress by Givenchy. Julianne Moore is a Cannes regular and we have seen her nail the looks time and again with Chanel, Gucci, and Givenchy too. But this is not working. Nope. (Getty)

6. Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst is part of Cannes 2016 jury and she is embracing the French style with such ease. Her day started with yellow Dior number. The soft cut of the fabric  got an edge with a small gold belt around the waist. The plus point of the dress you ask? POCKETS!

In the evening for the opening ceremony, the 'Fargo' actress chose breezy Gucci number in pink. She has set the bar high. Let's hope she follows through the festival. (Getty)

7. Kristen Stewart
