Who is your favourite Bollywood baddie of all time? Why?

The archetypal Bollywood villain was as important a part of Hindi films as the hero until recently, when, with the new wave of multiplex and realistic cinema, the out-and-out evil guy has slowly faded from the scene.

The latest Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg brought the 'Bollywood baddie' back to life in the character of Chhedi Singh played by Sonu Sood. Before Dabangg, Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini showcased an unremittingly negative character. But the role essayed by Pradeep Rawat lacked punch and was overshadowed by Aamir’s pumped up body.

From their earliest days through to the 1990s, Hindi films have seen a number of actors who specialised in playing villainous roles. The likes of Amjad Khan, Pran, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Ajit, Ranjeet, KN Singh, Jeevan, Prem Chopra, and most recently Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai, have been unforgettable in many of their negative roles.
