Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg on being a parent and coming down to India for an authentic massage

Any plans to visit India?
I’ve heard a lot of stuff about India…about the people, the diverse cultures and also about its beautiful sights and sounds. Of course, Ayurveda is also quite famous. Maybe I’ll come down for an authentic spa massage soon!

You have dabbled in music, movies, production. Why have left out direction?
I would love to direct in the future. I don’t know if I would direct myself in a movie, but I would like to get behind the camera. I want to work with talented film-makers, especially writer-directors who have very specific visions. So when I do venture off on my own, I will have worked with some of the best film-makers in the business.

We hear that you and Rhea Durham, with whom you’ve had a long-term relationship, are getting married next year...
She wants to wait until after the baby is born. We’ve been very fortunate. We’ve waited and worked hard to really strengthen our relationship. We want to get it right.

You and Rhea have three small children already. What’s it like being a parent?
I have a five-year-old daughter, a two-year-old son and a newborn son who is just four weeks old. I get a little bit more sleep than Rhea. I can pretty much sleep through everything. She takes care of the newborn because I am terrified of babies until they’re like six months old; they are so fragile looking!I do keep other kids busy though; my daughter plays soccer, my son is dying to learn karate.

You seem to have a fixation with tattoos…
Yeah…I have four tattoos. Sylvester the cat with Tweety in his mouth on my ankle, a tattoo of my initials MW with Wahlberg through them on my upper right arm, a Bob Marley tattoo with One Love on my upper left arm and the final tattoo, which is most dear to me, is the rosary tattooed around my neck with a crucifix and the words ‘In God I Trust’ resting over my heart.

Tell us something about your role inMax Payne…
I play a cop called Max Payne, who loses his wife and baby daughter in a savage murder. He is a broken man. Tormented, restless and distraught, he has only one goal in life, to solve the crime and bring the vicious perpetrators to justice. It was great making Max Payne, I could get out there and do what the bad side of me would do.
