Akshaye Khanna tells DNA that it's fun to bring out one's darker shades sometimes
Akshaye Khanna says that it's fun to bring out one's darker shades sometimes.
You have been hugely appreciated for your negative roles. What makes you go in for playing a dark character?
It's always fun to play what you are not in real life. We all connect ourselves to the goody-goody characters that we play, but it is challenging to be as bad as you can when you are not that in real life. We all have black, white and grey shades in our character and believe me, it's fun to bring out that dark shade on screen, be completely villainous, be as bad as you can.
But why are you so reclusive?
I am not really a recluse. I am not really comfortable talking about my personal life, may be that is why people say I am a recluse.
What tips has your dad given you about acting or about life?
He has taught me to be a good human being otherwise he doesn't really give both of us (Rahul and I) any tips. He just tells us to follow our instincts.
What's the truth behind the IIFA controversy between you and Anil Kapoor?
Anil is like my elder brother and he would always be one for me. Yes, I couldn't attend the press conference at IIFA but that was because I was unwell. To tell you the truth, my stomach was upset and so, I couldn't attend it. Like any elder brother and producer Anil called me to check on the dates for promotion of the film. Now if you call that a rift between him and me then I can't help it.
We also learn that you and Arshad Warsi have had a fall out during the IIFA and you had some heated moments with him.
Nothing like that! Yes, we both didn't come on the same stage for promotion, but for that we had our own reasons. We both are professionals and would not indulge in childish things like that.
