Come December and Choti Bahu will complete one year. DNA gets behind the scenes with Rubina Dilaik aka Radhika of Choti Bahu...

DNA: How do you feel being a part of such a successful venture?
Rubina Dilaik: I feel extremely blessed and honoured to be a part of Choti Bahu, playing the title role. I thank Zee TV and producer Tony and Deeya Singh for selecting me to play the title role of Choti Bahu and having instilled faith in my abilities. The show has given me a new identity, making Radhika a household name across the nation.

DNA: The serial has consistently remained the slot leader and a toprated show on Zee. Who would you accredit the success to?
RD: To put a show together is not one man’s job. There’s lots of sweat and blood that goes into making a show successful. Right from the people who are at the lowest rung to the director, writers, producer and the cast, everybody has a major contribution in living up to the expectation of the viewers. Since today the entire GEC space is driven by TRPs, I think the channel also plays a very important role instrategically driving and promoting a show — keeping in mind the market scenario.

DNA: Since you have done so well for yourself without any formal training, how does it feel to reach such a level?
RD: I feel it’s totally a miracle and a result of my good karmas that I have reached such a stage in such a short span. Choti Bahu has been an institution for me from where I have learnt the A-Z of not only acting but also the technical whereabouts. The show doing so well has all the more heightened the expectations and made me a self critic.

DNA: Tell us about your chemistry with your co-star Avinash Sachdev. Both of you make a very cute couple...
RD:Avinash is a great co-actor and fits his role to the hilt. In fact, I have been very lucky to have a wonderful set of co-stars who have always helped me better my performance and have maintained a healthy atmosphere on the sets. Avinash is a great friend of mine and the same comfort level translates onscreen as well.

DNA: Haven’t you thought of participating in reality shows?
RD: Playing a lead in a daily soap does not leave time for pursuing any other pursuits. I’m not exaggerating a bit but even six hours of sleep becomes a luxury. There’s no room for anything else right now.

DNA: What about Bollywood?
RD: I’ll definitely consider it if a good enough script comes across. I’m an actor and I will definitely consider good roles.
