Interview Ritesh Deshmukh : I called mom first

Riteish Deshmukh is over the moon. His Marathi production Yellow has won as National Award. The actor who is currently in Latur spoke exclusively to After Hrs about the big honour

Did you expect to win in any category for Yellow?
I am just thrilled to know that Yellow was given a special Jury award - and extremely happy that the two main leads and special children -Gauri Gadgil and Sanjana Rai were rewarded with a Special Mention too - at the National Awards

Where were you when you heard about it?
I was sleeping and when I woke up I saw many missed calls - First call I picked up was Genelia's - She said 'Yellow got a National Award' - and I was like 'Whattttttt?' And we both yelled loudly.

Who was teh first person you shared the news with?
My mom. I called her first and told her.

Will you and Genelia go together to receive the awards later this year?
We will look at the procedure for the awards and then take a call - but ideally we would love to be there.

To whom do you credit this win?
The credit for this goes to the entire team of Yellow-

The best compliment?
Every one in the industry has been more than kind and have been messaging and tweeting. Many of them have seen it, unlike my political friends who have been busy with elections - so post that I will have a show for them.

Does this win put more pressure on your next production?
Every film and every subject should have its own beauty - every genre will have its own appeal - one shouldn't put any pressure any film even before it's conceived.
