I don’t have any concrete plans: Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is taking it easy for now. She is finding her work-life balance even as she figures out which films she wants to work on. While there are reports that the actress has signed her second film with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Raat Baaki the actress hasn’t confirmed the news. Meanwhile, her fans want to see her opposite old favourites Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Here, the actress talks about upcoming films and the possibilities, thereof. Read on....

Is the Aanand L Rai film with SRK happening?
I have never spoken about films that aren’t confirmed or that I’m not doing a certain film. It’s not professional.

You’ve done multi-heroine films. Would you like to do a film only with actresses?
The film has to be good. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was a film where three amazing actors, big stars came together and had no problem because the script was amazing. Tomorrow, if a similar film on girls comes up, I don’t think anyone will have a problem.

Alia said she wants to do a female version of Dil Chahta Hai with you...
But that means, there will be one more person in it. I think a better film for me and Alia to do would be Thelma & Louise.

Do you plan to venture into production anytime soon?
I don’t have any concrete plans. I am trying to do justice to everything that I have on my plate. Maybe if I have time, then I might have the head space to venture into something.

You haven’t done a film with Akshay for a while...
I don’t plan my career in that manner. Also, from the beginning, I have been always like this. I have just gone for what I felt was the right project or film for me. Whether it was doing a film with Salman Khan or with Imran Khan or whether it was John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh for New York or Apne with the Deols, I have always moved. Then there was Raajneeti with Ajay Devgn. I have just gone with my own feelings and instincts. ZNMD was a completely different film being made at that time. I just looked at the directors to do the film and went by the script.  I am not planning or strategising and that’s how I continue to be. Definitely, there was a time when my focus on the sets was a little less and I have seen that phase too. Then I reminded myself that you have to be ‘present’ when you are on a film set. You can’t let your concentration lapse.

Is the Aanand L Rai film with SRK? Isn’t it happening?
I have never spoken about films that aren’t confirmed or that I’m not doing. If you ask me at the moment, if there’s a film, I would say no. There’s no confirmation from my end. Exactly what happened, which talks with who — I have never spoken about it. It’s not professional.

You have just opened a Facebook account. Are you becoming more social and outgoing in a way?
Yes, I am very reserved and I believe in the thought that once you are home, you are a normal person and that’s your place. But the way the world is moving, having a platform for yourself is very important. I also wanted that. I wanted to have a place where I could say and put up what I wanted, what I feel, even if it’s not as much frequent as other people. But as and when I feel like it, now I know i too have a place to put out my thoughts. (Smiles) To the people who want to hear what I have to say, to the audiences, to the people who I interact with.

Will Twitter and Instagram happen soon as well?
I think it will be the same argument. It took me a long time to be on Facebook. I will see to Twitter and Instagram. I wanted to give Facebook a feel first because I feel it’s a platform where you connect with a larger audience, a larger base of people. I want to give myself a little bit of time and then see where I want to go from here. But there are certainly plans of joining Twitter and Instagram as well.

Alia has spoken out about how publicly talking about relationships takes away from your work. Agree?
Since I have come into the industry, I have been saying the same thing. So it’s been that many years for me when I have said I don’t want to talk about my personal life. There’s not just one reason. I will always maintain that, for me, it is the right thing to do.
