The 86th Annual Academy Awards was scheduled to be broadcast a week earlier, but was rescheduled to avoid conflict with the broadcast of the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Popular comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will host the show for the second time, following her stint as host for the 79th ceremony. The nominees this year include past winners like Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock as well as new nominees Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, June Squib and Michael Fassbender. The films nominated this year are touted as some of the best films in the last few years with front runners like '12 Years A Slave', 'Gravity' and 'American Hustle', with the latter two garnering the most nominations of the night - ten each.
