Rapper-producer duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won the Best New Artist award at the 56th annual Grammy awards. Their hip hop album 'The Heist' has been nominated in seven categories including Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.
Their single 'Thrift shop' from the same album, has been nominated in the Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song category. Another track from the album 'Same love', a tribute to marriage equality and gay rights, has been nominated for the Song of the Year category.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the usual venue, the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on CBS at 8pm PST. The show was pushed back to January to avoid competing with the 2014 Winter Olympics.
