The two were out to promote their new film Kidnap, loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel of the same name. When I asked Minissha about this she confirmed the fact by saying ‘Isn’t Robert Louis Steevnson the DJ who plays electronica at Prive?”
Now, about the plot of the movie. Imran Khan is a pirate and his career in the high seas takes a plunge due to the uncontrollable and escalating price of timber. Wooden boats have a much shorter shelf life (this is not true as a paper boat, which when placed on a shelf actually lasts longer than a paper boat in water).
To make ends meet, Imran develops a limp. Although this doesn’t earn him any money but it impresses the ladies. Soon, it becomes a norm and women in the society only date men with limps. Overloved and underpaid, he decides to kidnap Minissha Lamba.
However, when he sees her in a white bikini he decides to kidnap only the white bikini.
So, obsessed and infatuated he is by the white bikini that he forgets his limp and develops hiccups instead. Then he loses the bikini.
To find the bikini, he ties Minisha to a chair and flogs her with a fig leaf for forty seven consecutive minutes, a cinematic record. Finally, he gives up and unties her, but she won’t budge because she’s taken a liking to the chair. They then do a dramatic exchange — he gets the white bikini, she gets the chair, the fig leaf and the limp. The hiccups are abandoned.
Sanjay Dutt, meanwhile, makes an entry dressed as a character from another film. He’s in a hurry to get back to the sets of the earlier film. The film ends like all Stevenson novels end, with the three main characters going for a four day vacation to a deserted Island.
The audience is left wondering about who actually ends up wearing the white bikini.
