Thank Dog its Wednesday!

It's a (wo)man's world

Thank Dog its Wednesday!

Remember the old joke? A married man at a party says: "I'm the boss of the house, and I have my wife's permission to say so!"
Little did we know, that joke would be near reality today, if not completely true.
Men will never admit it, but the truth is, given an equal opportunity, women can surpass men in any field.
Now before I start sounding like Rahul Gandhi in his infamous interview with Arnab Goswami about women empowerment, let me explain further...

Women today are more aware. In any environment, be it school, college, office, sport, entertainment, a woman works harder. Perhaps, just because she is a woman. Knowing that there's a sense of unfair competition with men. When I say unfair, I don't literally mean complexions!
For centuries, women have been oppressed with this thought process instilled in them by men that men are superior.
That a woman can't do everything a man can do. (Really? I wonder what would happen to men if they had to menstruate!)
Well, today it's quite the opposite. Not only can a woman do what a man can, she can she do it better.
"Aurat ki jagah ghar pe hai" or, "no one can take care of the house like my wife does. That's an achievement", say most men.
I say that's rubbish!
I grew up with my mother and my sister, both were working women who were also taking care of the house. (As I was a regular good-for-nothing)
Taking care of a house isn't the achievement, running the house is!
The bitter truth is, slowly but steadily, men are beginning to accept women not just as equals but as superiors. Two of the world's number 1 sportspersons are Indian women, Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal.

One of the highest grossing film of all time, Happy New Year, is also made by a woman, my sister Farah, who I'm proud to say, is the only female filmmaker who's part of the 100- crore club!
Cinema too is changing. Women-oriented films such as Queen, Mary Kom, NH 10, Mardaani have done well at the box office. Now that's woman power! Why look further? In my opinion, this country's most popular columnist is a woman, Twinkle Khanna!

Today Gauri, Sussanne, Maheep, Bhavna, Seema are independent successful business women.
Gone are the days, when a woman married to a star was called a star wife. Today, most of these wives are stars in their own right.

Wow! After today's column, I feel that my chances of getting a date this week have doubled (just kidding!). But I truly believe that when (and eventually that when will happen) woman will take over the world, the world will be actually a better place to live in. There will be no wars, no riots, no terrorism, no racism, no social evils.
Maybe a few arguments here and there, a good amount of harmless bitching, 24X7 gossip. But that's hardly a price to pay for a better world.
I truly believe that behind every successful man there's a woman and behind that woman, is the successful man's wife saying, "Let go of my husband!"
