Just like India and Australia are nicknamed the “unbeatables” , the West Indies(like Pakistan) are popularly known as the “unpredictables”. 19 runs required from the last over. An almost impossible task. England were in an advance celebratory mode and guess what?Chaampyaan! Chaampyaan! Carlos Braithwaith hit four sixes and won the match!!!And the cup! As simple as that. That mean the unpredictables could have chased 36 runs in the last over by hitting two more sixes. Don’t forget six sixes were hit in a World Cup by Yuvraj against England.

Sounding off the Board

But the most highlighted moment of this entire tournament was Darren Sammy, the captain of the West Indian team, the World Champions speaking against his board after winning the cup. The truth is that they have no proper salaries, along with many financial problems no proper support from the board, ignorance level of importance given by the government. I guess that is what is instigated them to fight so hard to become the chaampyaans. And why just men, their women’s cricket also became the world chaampyaans on the same day. Along with their under 19 cricket team. A triple achievement. I guess now along with the rest of the world their board will sit up, take notice and finally care.
