A Shiela will always be compared to Munni. The item song in Dabangg, will be compared to the item song in Dabangg 2. No way to beat that, right? Wrong. Priyanka Chopra has come up with the perfect plan. She has eliminated being pitted against a Katrina, Kareena and Malaika by doing two songs in two films that will release shortly — Babli in Shootout in Wadala and Pinky in Zanjeer. So naturally the two songs will be compared to each other and not to another Chikni, Munni or Fevicol.
No actress has done two special songs in one year. if an actress is lucky, she gets one, and then rakes it in all year long by performing at events and awards shows. That PC has a double dhamaka is great for her, but it is a cause of concern for the makers of Zanjeer, in which she is playing the lead part. While her song for SAW is out, the Zanjeer song has not yet been shot. An elaborate song-and-dance has been planned with the Desi Girl.
The tune, costumes, dance movements have been finalised. When the Zanjeer team heard of this other song, a source reveals, “It came as an unpleasant surprise to them.”
While the actress is well within her right to do as many songs as she likes, the makers of Zanjeer team had assumed that Pinky would be Priyanka’s first full-fledged item song in 2013. Now they have lost out on the uniqueness of their wow factor as the Babli song is already out. Their grouse being that audiences would have watched Priyanka’s jalwa factor unleash in SAW song and so the impact will get diluted. But every dark cloud has a silver lining, and the Zanjeer team can see the first song, and take their song to the next level. The good thing is that once you know what competition has done, you can only do better, no?
