TV actors talk about American shows and the characters they are addicted to...

Sanjeeda Sheikh who will be seen in the upcoming Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan is a Friends addict. “When I’m not working I sit for hours in front of the TV watching re-runs of Friends. It is an evergreen show. I can watch them over and over again. I love all the characters — Joey and Phoebe are the best, of course. I know their dialogues by heart now!”

Vishal Karwal who was seen in Bigg Boss, is a fan of Friends. “Like all kids, I grew up watching the series and loved it. There was not a single episode which I didn’t enjoy watching. I loved the show as I could connect to it as a teenager. My favourite character is Joey Tribbiani. Like him, I don’t like sharing my food either!”

Suhasi Goradia Dhami, currently acting in Houswife Hai.. Sab Janti Hai says, “I am  a huge fan of American shows. I follow Grey’s Anatomy currently. I love Cristina Yang. She is independent and firm. What a brilliant character! I also follow Madmen, Friends, and Everbody Loves Raymond. Though I barely get time to watch any of these, whenever possible I switch on to Grey’s... It helps me unwind.”

Ankita Lokhande aka Archana of Pavitra Rishta is a Full House addict. “It is one of my favourite shows, even though it was aired long ago. I still love watching it over and over again. The characters are so full of life. It makes me loose track of time when I begin watching it, honestly. The new American shows do not have the kind of humour that Full House characters depict.   I love Jessi and out of the three kids, I like Michelle the most.”

Karanveer Bohra last seen in Saubhagyavati Bhava digs on How I Met your Mother. “Most American shows are funny and  have slapstick sense of humour. But How I Met you Mother tops them all. The characters are so real that they are like my friends, just with a better sense of humour! I am a Hindi serial guy and I do not follow too many English sitcoms honestly, but I cannot resist watching this one. This show represents our present generation,” he says.

Vishal Singh of Saath Nibhana Saathiya likes
Sex and the City the most. “There are so many seasons and there is so much to learn from that. Every episode has a message for us. I love Carrie Bradshaw and her sense of style. I also love watching Friends like many others. It is a brilliant show and one can never be tired of watching it. The director must be a genuis. I love Phoebe, she is like the Indian Hansa. I could marry a girl like her!”

Aishwarya Sakhuja, who was popular as Toasty of Saas Bina Sasural says, “What’s a Saturday night without catching up on your favourite sitcoms?” Aishwarya confessed being addicted to popular American TV show The Office. “I have so many favourites but currently I love watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Office the most. The humour in it keeps me going. It is an absolute delight to watch after a hectic day of work.”

Gautam Rode, the hot hunk seen in Saraswatichandra  loves Prison Break. “I am extremely busy with my shooting schedule, but I never miss an episode of Prison Break. I have all the seasons of course. It is such a stress buster to watch the episode after a day’s work. The best part is, it’s its about a different culture altogether. I have most of my favourite shows saved on my tab so I can watch them while traveling as well. The content is very gripping,” he says.
