Jacqueline Fernandez is the new desi girl

Jacqueline Fernandez is not new to item songs as she has done Dhanno in Housefull, and some sizzling tracks in Race 2. However, this time the Sri Lankan beauty has gone desi with a vengence for a song in Ramaiyya Vastavaiyya starring Shruti Haasan and debutant Girish Taurani.

She has been styled by Manish Malhotra for the song, ­Jaadu Ki Jhappi De De Tu Abhi, which was shot in Chandigarh recently. Director Prabhudheva has also grooved alongside Jackie.

“You are not a complete Bollywood heroine till you dance in the fields of Punjab. Thanks to this song,  I feel that I completely belong here,” laughs Jacqueline. “I enjoy dancing, but it’s the first time that I have done such a number with desi steps. And it was super-exciting.”

Adds the actress, “I can’t thank Rameshji (Taurani) and Prabhudheva enough, for not many filmmakers would have thought that I would look convincing as a village belle.”

As for matching steps with Prabhudheva — not an easy feat for any actress — was not daunting for her,  Jacqueline shrugs,  “I was very anxious about getting it right, but he put me completely at ease. I was in awe of dancing with him, but he is so non-starry that all my nervousness was put to rest.” The song was shot over three days.
