Off the sets and on the field that is. South star Ram Charan who’s making his Bollywood debut in Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer is known to have become really pally with his director. However, the two recently had a takkar on the pitch as their cricket teams battled it out with each other during the Celebrity Cricket League.
While Apoorva is a Mumbai Heroes player captained by Suniel Shetty, RC belongs to Telugu Warriors. And when they locked horns in Hyderabad recently, the two found themselves facing each other on the pitch.
A source says, “Apoorva and Ram have become the best of pals. Since both of them are participating in the ongoing CCL, on many occasions they have often practiced for their matches together during their free time on the sets. They even keep pulling each other’s leg about beating the other on field.” Though Mumbai Heroes have not been able to win either of the two matches they have played so far, Apoorva’s batting has impressed many.
“Ram and I have become very good friends since we started Zanjeer. We’re always up for cricket whenever we have time in between shots. But we’re both very possessive about our teams,” laughs Apoorva. “We’re always showing each other the way down when it comes to CCL. In fact, so many members from the unit have bet on us. This time the Telugu Warriors won. It’s all in fun and friendship,” he adds!
