Better known as The Turbanator, the Indian origin contestant on the reality show American Idol, Gurpreet Singh Sarin is already in the good books of the judges. The 22-year-old Punjabi boy has managed to mesmerise people by his performances as well as his 40 different, colourful turbans.
Nicki Minaj has already picked him as her favourite as she previously said, “Well Turbanator I love your look.” And during his group performance at the Hollywood Week round, she yelled, “That’s my BoBo... He’s got the pink turban!”
And turns out that Nicki’s fascination with him went contagious as fellow judge Randy Jackson reacted, “Yeah... That pink turban’s rocking. Makes me wanna wear one.” Following which the blue-eyed boy Keith Urban joked, “Oh, I’d be Keith Turban, by the way.”
From teaching Ryan Seacrest to perform the traditional Punjabi Bhangra (complete with the ‘brrruuuuaaaahhhhh’) to winning over the judges with his pleasant personality, Gurpreet Singh Sarin has become the highlight of this season. Says Gurpreet, “I am ecstatic. With my background in Indian Classical singing I think I stand a very strong chance in the show.”
