Trust Akshay Kumar to never shy away from pushing the envelope when it comes to his action sequences. However this time, the khiladi has taken a step in altogether different direction. The actor recently recorded a romantic ballad for his upcoming film, Special Chabbis. While earlier Akshay lent his voice for a few lines in songs and rapped with Snoop Dogg in the title track of Singh is King, this is for the first time that he has sung the entire romantic number.
“Akshay has donned a new avatar as a singer by lending his voice to a romantic ballet, Mujh Mein Tu, in Special Chabbis,” shares an insider, adding that it was director Neeraj Pandey’s (of A Wednesday! fame) idea to make Akshay sing a song. “But it took the music director MM Kreem and Neeraj a month to convince Akshay to sing for their film,” says the insider.
However, once Akshay decided to sing, he left no stone unturned and trained regularly for almost five months, say sources from the production house. “The people who have worked on the music were shocked to hear the song. It didn’t seem as if it was sung by someone who is not a professional singer. It’s a soulful number and Akshay has sung it very well. He surprised everyone with the song. Anyone who hears the song will definitely be impressed with the actor’s vocal talent. There’s a lot of heart in his singing which has made the difference, plus he trained for it as well,” they add.
When contacted, Neeraj confirms it saying that Akshay has indeed made his debut as a singer. “Kreemji and I were really keen that Akshay sing this song for my film and he has sung it very beautifully,” he says.
