Music was always in her blood but it was only after a few years of training that Reewa discovered it was also her calling.

Sonali and Roopkumar Rathod’s daughter Reewa is all set to step into the world of music, albeit in a unique way. Reewa, who is a trained pianist, singer and composer will be performing a concert on January 5 at Bandra’s Ampitheatre. Her album will be launched sometime mid-next year.

Reewa is lucky to be launched in a grand way by her parents. “Yes, but it also entails a lot of pressure,” shares the debutante. Which is why despite suffering from high fever for two days, the youngster is working hard to live up to her parents and people’s expectations.

Music was always in her blood but it was only after a few years of training that Reewa discovered it was also her calling. It was her father, an accomplished tabla player who put her on to piano lessons when she was only six years old. “I developed a liking for it and got specially trained in it,” says Reewa.

The pretty girl has accomplished eight grades in piano with distinction from Royal Associated Board Of London. She has also trained in Carnatic and Hindustani music. Interestingly, the variety has led to Reewa creating her own style of music that is a mix of the western and Indian music. “But it’s not a fusion, it’s completely different,” she clarifies.

Reewa, who is a huge fan of Yanny is also fond of Mariah Carey and Seal. Among the Indian singers she likes Hariharan and Sonu Nigam’s style of singing. Ask her which of her father’s song is her favourite and she promptly says Tere Liye. “I love romantic, soulful numbers,” smiles Reewa. She, however is in no hurry to sing Bollywood songs. She first wants to make her presence on the international platform. “I want to be someone like Norah Jones. But my personal style is soul music,” she smiles.
