Today is Akshay Kumar’s wife, producer Twinkle Khanna’s birthday. Today also happens to be the birthday of her father and Akshay’s father-in-law, the late Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna, who passed away earlier this year. Considering the family’s loss, there was speculation about Akshay not celebrating his wife’s birthday as he does each year. But the action star has revealed that he will indeed be celebrating Twinkle’s birthday today. He reasons, “We will be celebrating Tina’s birthday. My father-in-law lived life king-size. He believed each day was a celebration. He wouldn’t like it if we didn’t do anything today.”
But while Akshay admitted to going ahead with the celebrations as an ode to the late superstar’s zest for life, he was tight-lipped about the plans for the day.
There was buzz of him taking Twinkle to Goa for a mini-vacation around her birthday, but an insider reveals that contrary to the reports, the celebration will be an intimate affair with family and a bunch of close friends and it will be in the city itself. “There were reports that they would bring in her birthday at their Goa bunglow, where the late superstar Rajesh Khanna had also celebrated his birthday last year with them. But these reports are not true. Akshay has taken a few days off till New Year’s, which he will spend with Tina, Aaarav (son) and Nitara (daughter), but they are not going to Goa. Instead he is throwing a party for her, here in Mumbai. There are also plans to surprise her with a dinner on a yacht,” informs the insider.
