Actress Amrita Rao is back in Bhopal where she is currently on a month long schedule shooting for Anil Sharma’s Singh Saheb The Great in which she is starring with action star Sunny Deol. However, keen to spend the Christmas with her family, she had managed to get a day off and fly to Mumbai to celebrate the festival. “Amrita is a thorough professional, but when it comes to Christmas, it is impossible for her to spend it away from her family. So, when she requested Sharma for a day off on Christmas, he readily agreed but on the condition that she would not get a day off on the New Year’s eve, as they are shooting some crucial scenes and Amrita’s presence will be required throughout,” reveals a unit member.
When contacted, Amrita confirms that thanks to the filmmaker, she had managed get a day off to celebrate Christmas, despite the schedule being really hectic. “Yes, it was a perfect celebration. Visiting old churches with my cousins, and taking walks in the quaint Bandra lanes, and cutting the Christmas cake with a toast of wine is almost customary,” shares the actress, who is also known to attend the midnight mass at Mt Mary’s church in Bandra every year.
But then won’t she miss out on the partying to bring in the New Year? “Yes of course I will,” she says, admitting that she is not very excited at the prospect of being away from her family on New Year’s eve. “While most people leave the city to celebrate, for me Mumbai is the best place in the world to bring in the New Year. This year I’ll be in Bhopal, but my heart will definitely be in Mumbai. I am feeling a little low, but I’m not complaining as I will be doing something that I enjoy,” adds Amrita, who’d been busy prepping for her role as a journalist in the film even before the film’s shoot actually commenced.
“She attended workshops to perfect the mannerisms of a journalist. In fact, everyone on the sets is quite impressed with her disciplined approach and hard work, apart from her acting talent,” shares a source from the sets.
The source however reveals that in the midst of a no-holiday schedule, Sharma has made plans to treat the film’s unit to a New Year’s party. “The team has planned a bonfire, a treasure hunt, music and dancing on sets after wrap-up to bring in the New Year. But not everyone knows about it, so it will be a surprise for many who are expecting it to be an all work and no play New Year,” adds the source.
