Daniel Day-Lewis was so deep in character while filming Lincoln that those on set could only address him as Mr President.

Lukas Haas, who played a soldier in the flick, said even Steven Spielberg had to refer to Day-Lewis as ‘Mr President’ during the three month filming period, Fox News reported

The 55-year-old star happens to be an ardent follower of method acting, and this was one way he would stay focused while filming.

Haas added, “Daniel’s one of the best actors out there. By far. I’m not sure who you could put above him.”
