Hollywood hottie Gerard Butler — best known for his roles in films like 300, P.S. I Love You, The Ugly Truth — may have had to can his plans of visiting India for his birthday recently, but he insists that it’s not going to stop him from planning more visits. In an email interview with DNA, Gerard reveals his Bollywood dreams. Excerpts:
What’s the fondest memory you have of your last visit to India?
Oh! the party that Shah Rukh Khan threw for me. It was great. And I also remember meeting those very talented kids of Slumdog Millionaire. I love the country. There is a complete different aura to it. I just love the country, the people and the food. Everything about it is so bright, colourful and cheerful.
When are you visiting next?
I will come to India. Hopefully very soon, provided I get the visa this time, you know.
Are you still in touch with your Bollywood pals?
Priyanka (Chopra) is a great friend and we do keep in touch.
Would you consider taking up an offer here?
Bollywood is a very lively industry and the people are amazing. If an Indian movie comes my way, why not, it’d be an opportunity I’d relish.
Being in the limelight often takes a toll on an actor’s personal life, how do you deal with this?
I don’t. I just take things as they come.
How do you look back at the journey so far?
The journey has been very fruitful. I’ve been propelled through life from one mistake to another. Sometimes I can sit here and say, in my more philosophical mode, I needed to make all those mistakes and I learned from all of them.
With your plans for music, would acting take a backseat?
No. Acting is something that I have always loved.
You are working with your ex Jessica Biel in Playing for Keeps. How is it working with a co-star with whom you also share a personal equation?
Jessica is amazing. She’s really talented. This is the best role I’ve ever seen her in. She’s so sensitive, and she’s beautiful. She’s also sweet, protective, compassionate and hilarious. I had a great time working with her.
