Actor Salman Khan recently organised a private screening of Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables 2 in Bandra. A few days later, the Deol brothers — Sunny and Bobby — too organised a screening of the film. Actor Ajay Devgn, who was in Hyderabad shooting for Himmatwala, meanwhile called for a special screening there, where he apparently watched the film with Sajid Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
With all these Bollywood action stars showing such keen interest in the franchise, there’s buzz brewing that this interest in the film may actually go beyond just watching it. And the kind of queries being made with the studio suggests that the film is being considered for an Indian version. It will no doubt be nothing less than a coup, if a producer does pull off an impressive line-up of Bolly macho men, just like the one that the Holly flick boasts of with names like — Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jean Claude Van Damme and Jason Statham. A source reveals that the distributors have got similar requests for private screenings from major Tamil and Telugu stars as well.
Speaking on the special screenings Sunil Udhani (Head of Distribution), Multivision Multimedia, said, “Yes, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Deol brothers and Ajay Devgn have seen the movie at private screenings and they loved it. We have in fact received many requests from other prominent Bollywood stars for private screenings and have unfortunately not been unable to accommodate them as all the prints were engaged in cinemas.
It’s amazing to see such kind of craze and respect to all aging heroes of The Expendables 2, especially for Arnold and Chuck Norris.”
